Tri-CityChinese School was established in 1994, with united efforts by the Chinese community and parents/guardians. The school is a non-profit (503C) organization. The administrative personnel are all volunteers from the parents/guardians. The school actively recruits and retains the best and most experienced professional teachers. A large portion of our teachers have received “Outstanding Chinese Teachers”awards. We provide an excellent and friendly environment for studying Chinese, and the cultural inheritance for the next generation.
The school organization is continuously seeking more suitable methods for overseas Chinese education. At present, classes and grades are from kindergarten class through eighth grade. We currently are teaching traditional Chinese, with Phonetic (ㄅㄆㄇㄈ) in the lower grades and add Pinyin (拼音) in the higher grades. In kindergarten and first grade, teachers can lead the classes by using Chinese and English overlapping instruction. This has attracted students from non-Chinese speaking families as well as Chinese speaking families. It provides a very well rounded education in Chinese: Chinese, Phonetic (ㄅㄆㄇㄈ) and Pinyin (拼音), 3 of the possible 4 Chinese SAT exams.
In addition to the main Chinese classes, the school provides with extra elective classes such as chess (western), painting, art and craft, mathematics, dance, music, Chinese Yo-Yo, sports and so on. The curriculum also includes school-wide academic competition every year.
